Ingredients For The Cake Pops Recipe
Chocolate Cake
- 2 large eggs
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup hot water
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- ½ cup coconut oil
- 6 tablespoons cocoa powder
Chocolate frosting
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 teaspoons milk
- ¾ cup confectioner’s sugar
- ½ cup cocoa powder
Coating
- Sprinkles
- Candy melts or pure chocolate
Directions
For the cake
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Grease a 9-inch cake pan with oil or butter.
- Take a large bowl and whisk together cocoa powder, flour, granulated sugar, salt and baking soda.
- In another bowl, whisk the eggs, oil and vanilla extract together.
- Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients; whisk them together while adding the hot water.
- Pour the batter into the greased pan and bake for about 25 minutes. Check with a toothpick by inserting it in the center to see if it comes out clean.
- Transfer it to a wire rack and allow it to cool.
For the frosting
- Beat butter in a bowl with a beater until it’s soft and creamy.
- Make sure to scrape down the sides with a spatula.
- Add in the remaining ingredients and mix them together at low speed.
- Increase the speed to ensure that everything is well combined.
For the cake pops
- Crumble the cake in a bowl with your hands.
- Throw in the frosting and mix until well combined, either with your hands or in the mixer.
- Roll out the mixture into small balls and place them on a lined baking sheet 1 cm apart.
- Pop them into the refrigerator for a couple of hours.
