Every fall my uncle ushers in the season of pumpkins and crunchy leaves with his annual “Day ‘O Donuts”. It’s quite possibly the best day of the year, and definitely the most delicious. He has a beautiful recipe, and I’ll be honest, I eat way more than I should every year. But they are seriously impossible to resist. So, whether the weather is starting to turn a little colder, or those warm summer nights are calling, there are days where having a donut or two can work a miracle. Enter: DIY donut recipes!
It’s a good idea to have a fryer on hand, otherwise you can do it low key and just throw some oil into a good pot and call it good. Here are some amazing DIY Donut recipes for those late nights when the grocery store is closed, or when you’re just feeling a hankering for some homemade treats!
Basic Glazed Donut: I love Ree Drummond. She’s a goddess in my book, and these donuts do nothing but increase her stock with me. They come together in thirty minutes, and they are pretty much heaven on a plate. Eat one, eat them all. Just make sure you exercise after. Ha ha!
Pumpkin Donuts: These take a different approach than the traditional fried donuts: they use a donut maker like this one. These are perfect for fall, and let’s be honest, cinnamon and pumpkin were made for each other.
Chocolate Chip Cookie Glazed Donuts: These are a combo/hybrid that was made for a girls night in. They use whole wheat flour, so you don’t have to feel as guilty about it as you’re going to think you need to. One word of warning, these will disappear before you can say “yum!”
Banana Bread Breakfast Donuts: Need an excuse to eat donuts for breakfast and not feel guilty? This is it! These are so yummy, and so filling. They make the best breakfast!
Baked Funfetti Donuts: One last way to make your donuts-bake them! This recipe not only looks like it’s dressed for a party, they taste like a party too. Use one of these pans and they will come out round and picture perfect!
And there you have it! Some delicious recipes to get your donut game on. You can bake them, fry them, or use a donut maker. However you make them, I’m pretty sure they will be gone before you can count how many you made. 😉
