Fried Shrimp Taco Recipe

- ½ c. vegetable oil
- 1 c. buttermilk
- ¾ c. flour
- ½ c. cornstarch
- 1 large egg
- 1 tbsp. hot sauce
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 ½ lbs. shrimp peeled and deveined
- 1 c. Panko
- 12 tortillas
- 4 c. slaw of choice
- ½ c. fish taco sauce of choice
Once the shrimp has been thawed and deveined, heat the oil in a large skilled over medium-high heat. While the oil is heating, whisk the buttermilk, flour, cornstarch, egg, and hot sauce together until combined. Then season with salt and pepper to taste.
Now dip the shrimp one at a time into the buttermilk mixture before dredging in the Panko crumbs, making sure to press lightly so that it sticks. Then place the coated shrimp on a platter until all shrimp have been coated. Next, cook the shrimp in batches by placing them in the hot oil for 2-3 minutes a side. They should be golden brown. Remove from the heat and place on a paper-towel lined plate to drain slightly.
Serve the shrimp immediately with your preferred slaw and sauce. Enjoy!
