Super Powders…No Cape Needed
If you’re looking for a great way to add in a little more to your morning smoothies, then look no further than Superfood powders! These are powdered roots, berries, etc. with some pretty amazing punch in the nutrient corner. So, which one do you choose? I think it depends on the benefits you’re looking for and what type of smoothies you want to make. Because while some of these are pretty mild, a few of them are a little…thicker than I like with my morning beverage.
As with all things natural, most of the info I have isn’t backed up by any published scientific journals. So, proceed at your own risk, be careful, and include your doctor in any major life changes or dietary supplements.
Moringa: This is the first Super Powder we are going to introduce today! You can get it from Amazon here, or your local health food store. Moringa hails from the area in and around India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the tropics. It’s a super useful powder because it’s so full of antioxidants and it doesn’t look like its properties when it’s dried and ground. This is a great powder for helping to lower cholesterol, manage your digestion, and stabilize blood sugar. It also has a pleasantly nutty taste, so it works well in fruit smoothies like this one:
- 1/2 c. each frozen Mango, Raspberries, and Blueberries
- 1 tsp. Moringa
- 1 tsp. powdered peanut butter
- 1 c. chopped kale
- 1 c. spinach
- 1 tsp. chia seeds
- 1 tsp. flaxseed
- 1 c. orange juice
Process: Blend all ingredients well in a blender on high. If you don’t have frozen fruit, use fresh and add 1 c. of ice. Drink immediately and feel refreshed!
Acai: This one is probably rather familiar. Due to its super high antioxidant levels, this powder is great to help boost your immune system’s overall health. You can get it here from Amazon. It also pairs great with fruit smoothies like:

Chlorella: This is where things get a little…interesting. Of all the powders, this one tastes the most like you’re consuming pond scum. But, if you pair it correctly, it’s not too bad. It has great properties to help clear and improve your skin, among other good things. Get it here if you’re ready to take it out for a spin!

Baobab: This fruit comes from Africa and is super high in vitamin C, fiber, and antioxidants. It’s great for digestive health and it also helps to stabilize blood sugars. It has a nice sweet citrusy tang to it, which makes it ideal for any fruit smoothies. I’d suggest just sprinkling this one over your morning yogurt or oatmeal. It’s a game changer! Get it here.
